Ingredients

  • 2 ozBourbon(High-quality Kentucky bourbon)
  • 0.25 ozSimple Syrup(Or 2 tsp sugar dissolved in a little water)
  • 8-10Fresh Mint Leaves(Torn or lightly muddled)

Garnish: Large sprig of fresh mint, 'spanked' to release aroma

Instructions

  1. 1Place the mint leaves and simple syrup into a Julep cup or rocks glass.
  2. 2Gently muddle the mint to release the essential oils without shredding the leaves.
  3. 3Add the bourbon and fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
  4. 4Stir well with a bar spoon until the outside of the glass begins to frost.
  5. 5Fill the rest of the glass with more crushed ice, creating a rounded mound at the top.
