Little Italy

A sophisticated variation of the Manhattan, the Little Italy adds a layer of complexity with Cynar, an Italian artichoke-based amaro. Created by Audrey Saunders in 2005, it beautifully balances the spicy notes of rye whiskey with bittersweet, earthy undertones.

Ingredients

  • 2 ozRye Whiskey
  • 0.75 ozSweet Vermouth
  • 0.5 ozCynar(Artichoke-based amaro)

Garnish: Maraschino cherry

Instructions

  1. 1Add the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Cynar into a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. 2Stir well for about 30 seconds until the drink is thoroughly chilled.
  3. 3Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
  4. 4Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
